Our fascination with the gardens created by artists is sparked anew annually with the summer season planting season. Majorelle was born in Nancy, France, the son of a well known Artwork Nouveau furnishings designer, Louis Majorelle. He studied on the Académie Julian in Paris and exhibited on the Salon des Beaux Artes in 1908. However it was after exploring nations outdoors of France that Majorelle discovered and fell in love with Marrakech, settling there for the remainder of his life.

He commissioned architect, Paul Sinner to design his house there.
