I painted this from a photograph I took on our final journey to Kingfisher Bay on Fraser Island, Australia. It was 6:24 am on the jetty, with the solar low on the horizon line, and when all of the fantastic pastel colours had come out to play. A number of boats had been anchored alongside the shoreline and swayed on the glassy water. It might have been an ideal second to tug out a small canvas and brush and begin portray. However a photograph needed to do.

Quiet topics like this aren’t essentially the most technically demanding to color. However they’re difficult within the sense there’s nothing to cover behind. You can’t depend on any inherent complexity of the topic or hanging worth distinction or bursts of vivid shade. All the pieces is quiet and you should strategy the topic with a refined contact. As quickly as you overstep and attempt to do an excessive amount of, the portray received’t work.

I drew inspiration from Fred Cuming for this portray. He was a grasp of capturing the comfortable colours and relationships of early morning and late afternoon.

Anyway, thanks for studying. Don’t overlook to take a look at my Panorama Portray Masterclass. That is the ultimate cohort we take by way of earlier than we open the course to the general public at full worth. Be part of now to lock within the decreased worth and bonuses.

Blissful portray!
